#FIBAAmericasWomen2015 - Historic debut for Ecuador

EDMONTON (2015 FIBA Americas Championship) - The Ecuador National Team added a new chapter to the history of Ecuadorian basketball, capturing their first victory in a FIBA Americas Championship, after defeating the US Virgin Islands, 72-48.

• Turning Point: Imposing a first half 35-13, the Ecuadorian sealed the game, but it was at the beginning of the final quarter, that the Virgin Islands began to discount. Ecuador reacted in time and took off again, for the win.

• Stats don’t lie: Eduardo Pinto's team dominated the paint, scoring 32 points from the area under the basket. The Ecuadorian also had a better percentage from the field, accumulating 44 percent, compared to a 27 from the Virgin Islands.

• Game Hero: Maria Mora was the best scorer for Ecuador with 16 points.

• Conclusion: Ecuador begins the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship with a historic feat, collecting their first-ever win in the competition.
